OS Golf Day Dubai 19Mar 2010

After a lot of mails going to and fro to know the format of the Golf Tournament in advance, especially from the Vindhyans, the day finally arrived. The format included two-man teams that were divided by randomly pulling out score cards. Everyone turned up at the Emirates Golf Club in House colours including the OS President Jerry Bains ;blue clearly being the dominant colour. Up for grabs at the tournament were shields with the Sanawar crest (sponsored by Eurochem) for the top five teams. The tournament was open for all OS and their spouses. After a brief warm up everyone assembled for a group photo which was taken by the Khaleej Times sports photographer (thanks to Rajiv Suri). Then the golfers teed off with each house being cheered on the first tee box.

The prizes were given away Mr. Baldev Chopra (Anil Sobti’s father-in-law, whose house was the venue for the gala dinner and dance) .
The winners were:

1st place – JS Brar (SOSS 81) & Sanjeev Suri (OSN 77)

2nd place – SS Bala (OSV 79) / Rajiv Suri (OSN 80)

3rd place – Gagan Sidhu (SOSV 91 ) / Sushant Malik (OSN 86)

4th place – Naresh Handa (OSS 80) / Vikram Arora (SOSN 90)

5th place – Kunal Chowdry (OSH 80) / Nikhil Ahluwalia (SOSN 85 )

Special awards also went to Gen. Chowdry (Kunal’s father) who played a great round of 18 holes at the age of 90 and also to Jerry Bains for coming all the way from India to be with Middle East’s OS Chapter.
