The
student's strength is approximately 650; the teaching faculty has
87 members and teaching sections never exceed 22 students (typically
12 to 15 in the final two years). The student/staff ratio of less
than 8/1 is amongst the best in the world.
The
medium of instruction is English, with Hindi as the second compulsory language
till class 10. The School is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary
Education (CBSE), New Delhi and prepares children for the All India Senior
Secondary School Examination (12th grade Examination), following the 10+2
pattern of education.
A
regular assessment is made of every child's performance. Very bright children
are encouraged with awards of Distinction and Commendation in their Unit Tests
while weak students are placed on a House/Headmaster's List and helped with
remedial work. There are Half Year and End of Year examinations. The results of
all assessments, end of term statement of marks and comments by the subject
teachers are sent to parents. Pupils are expected to thrive academically. Where
this is not the case, the House Staff, or indeed the Headmaster, may request
parents to visit School so that any difficulties may be explored and,
hopefully, solved.
A
new post holder, Head of Curriculum Development, has been appointed from July
2000, and will be focussing on the development of teaching styles and other
methods to further raise the academic prowess of the school.
Teacher
Appraisal monitors the performance of teachers, and teachers are encouraged to
attend workshops to rejuvenate their imaginations.
