OONA MANSINGHA
1977-81 - Nilgiri Girls (1963- 96)
She did her Masters in Rural Development from Anand (Gujarat) and worked for 1½ years with Gujarat Tribals. Later worked with an NGO called Chirag, based in the Central Himalayan region. Went on to do another Masters in Development Studies in Sussex University, UK, and upon her return in 1991 got married. She and her husband Sushil founded Arohi, an NGO doing rural development in the Central Himalayas, Naintal District. Oona and her young daughter passed away tragically in August of 1996.Her work is still being carried on
An all-rounder who excelled in both academics and sports during her years in school. A fine human being who was liked by everybody both socially and professionally. Her work had a decisive impact and continues to do so.
